Celebrating 40 years of Work and Masterpieces

Conitnuing the celebration of his 40 years long career, Toru Iwaya will exhibit his work in Iwaki City (Fukushima Prefecture, Japan).

The exhibition will feature exclusively the Noh Mask series, a unique collection of Mezzotints Toru Iwaya has developed over his long career.
Mezzotint is known for the luxurious quality of its tones: first, because an evenly, finely roughened surface holds a lot of ink, allowing deep solid colors to be printed; secondly because the process of smoothing the texture with burnisher and scraper allows fine gradations in tone to be developed.

Toru's collection of the 'Noh mask series' consist of over 30 works (20 out of 30 are large-sized). You cannot find this anywhere else in the world.

Toru will be available to answer any question you may have and to explain his work and his technique on Jan 30th, Feb 5th, 6th, 12th and 13th.

Complimentary refreshments will be provided.
Entrance is free of charge, no reservation is necessary.
Opening hours are from 10:30am until 6:00pm.
